Instagram's New Reorder Feature (And How to Use It)

I was actually in the middle of updating my Instagram when I noticed something new—a Reorder Grid feature! I genuinely had to do a double take because this is something I've been hoping Instagram would add for years, probably ever since I first started using the app.

If you're someone who loves having a pretty, cohesive Instagram feed like I do, you'll probably understand why this is such an exciting update.

Why I'm So Happy About This Feature

One of the biggest reasons I didn't post on Instagram as often as I wanted was because I was constantly thinking about how every new photo would affect the look of my profile.

I'd spend way too much time deciding which photo to post next, sometimes even delaying posts just because I didn't want to ruin the layout of my feed. It sounds a little dramatic, but I know I'm not the only one who's done it!

Now, I don't have to stress nearly as much. If I decide later that I'd rather have a different photo at the top of my profile or want to create a more balanced grid, I can simply move my posts around.

It feels like such a small change, but for anyone who enjoys creating content, it gives so much more freedom.

What Is the Reorder Feature?

The new Reorder Grid feature lets you rearrange the order of posts on your Instagram profile without deleting or reposting them.

That means you can:

  • Highlight your favorite photos.
  • Create a more cohesive-looking feed.
  • Refresh your profile whenever you like.
  • Stop worrying so much about posting in the "perfect" order.
  • Focus more on sharing moments instead of planning your entire grid.

How to Reorder Your Instagram Grid

  1. Open the Instagram app and go to your profile.
  2. Tap Edit Profile.
  3. Select Reorder Grid (or Edit Grid depending on your version of Instagram).
  4. Press and hold a post.
  5. Drag it to where you'd like it to appear.
  6. Continue rearranging your posts until you're happy with the layout.
  7. Once you're happy with the layout, simply leave the screen—your changes will be saved automatically.

If you don't see the feature just yet, don't worry! Instagram often rolls out new updates gradually, so it may take a little while before it's available to everyone. I'm not sure if it's because I live in Korea, but I usually seem to get updates like this later than everyone else, so I might even be a little late to the party. ♡

My Final Thoughts

Personally, I think this is one of Instagram's best updates in a long time.

Being able to rearrange your feed removes so much of the pressure that comes with posting. Instead of worrying about making every new photo fit perfectly into your grid, you can simply post what you want and organize it later.

I'm already looking forward to refreshing my own profile—and I have a feeling I'll be posting a lot more often now that I don't have to overthink every single upload.

What do you think about Instagram's new Reorder feature? Is it something you've been waiting for too? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

Thanks so much for reading! I hope this helped, and I'll see you in the next post.
